First Kiss

He says, "I want to kiss you now."
She says, "It's not the time."
He holds her close while minutes tick.
She tries to catch his eyes.
His mouth, it speaks the overflow
Of the joy his heart contains.
Her eyes, they try to show the words
That her inhibitions reign.
They dance the dance no music needs,
And sway into the night.*
He draws her back to look at her;
He knows the time is right.
His lips, they ask the question now
As they brush upon her face.
Her lips, they answer back with how
They open to his embrace.

*We had been standing outside dancing without any music...please do not misunderstand. I really like this poem, but I was afraid to put it up because I didn't want any students getting the wrong ideas :)
