Sour Taste of Accolade

It came to this,
No real surprise,
Stagnation,
Battle of our lives.

You've moved on,
Words curdled and dry.
Unlike those times,
When they used to fly.

Seems our promise died,
Along with our blame,
Our acceptance knot,
I release you from its claim.

Things I didn't say,
Letters from another time,
But you've got plenty of those,
Buried like a crime.

But I won't forget,
Lessons on the stave.
Carved in with steel,
Yet still unengraved.

Moments still pass,
Where I dream to move,
You've got your life ahead of you.
One less thing to prove.

Wishes were nothing more,
Than knocked up reverie.
Still cast in hope,
As I look, while elderly.

Nothing left to say,
As always and forever 'bin,
Clock keeps ticking by,
About time I leave and begin.
