What I Seek

Mirror, mirror on the wall
Show my past and show it all
Help me remember what I forget
Tell me the things I shall regret
Show no mercy and hide not a thing
Be my life of a peasant or of a king
Tell me the tale of once before
I am willing and waiting so open the door

What you seek is your life's tale
So I shall deliver without fail
You were born some eighteen years ago
And for a while you were numeral uno
Three short months later that wasn't the case
To your grandmother’s house you fled with much haste
Your family sought to protecting you
From the dangers of what your father might do
Into hiding you went for some years
Until the day came with so many tears
With your grandmother you would stay
And keep you parents far away

A happy little childhood you had
With a younger sister to make you mad
Just three years and eleven months apart
You butt heads and have attitudes that are tart
You went through grade school with many friends
Though sadly not many stayed till the very ends

High school hit like a brick wall
But it was a blast over all
Somewhat of a geek you became
but joining band wasn't so lame!
The flute wasn't your very first choice
But playing it made you rejoice
Learning the drums and trumpet fell flat
It just wasn't were your heart was at
reading and writing became your passion
You could say it was like an obsession

Your grades wavered and dropped a bit
And that just wasn't cutting it
You put your butt in gear
And graduation came with many tears
All that time over in the blink of an eye
But the memories never will die

Now that high school is over and done with
College is being tackled like a black hole abyss
It's nothing to be scared of
It fits you like a glove...
