Finally Free
I am the dog left out in the cold rain
soaking me through my skin
chilling me to the bone
the way your cruel insults
make me shiver with hate.
I am the bird locked in the cage;
forgotten
longing to be heard, longing
to stretch my wings and fly towards happiness.
I am the fish flopping on the dock
gasping for one more breath,
of life.
Or maybe it is freedom I long for?
As my soul drifts upwards,
I wonder.
Will I finally be free?
soaking me through my skin
chilling me to the bone
the way your cruel insults
make me shiver with hate.
I am the bird locked in the cage;
forgotten
longing to be heard, longing
to stretch my wings and fly towards happiness.
I am the fish flopping on the dock
gasping for one more breath,
of life.
Or maybe it is freedom I long for?
As my soul drifts upwards,
I wonder.
Will I finally be free?
