An Ode to the Darkness

Praise thee, light of the dark!
For this soul hath been branded by your mark
In swallowed souls and desperate actions
All in blind hope of eliciting a reaction
Are you--my dissolved illusion, slowly seeping out of my heart?

With a wink and the meeting of eyes, oh how I pray
That my emptiness shan't see the light of day
Love, oh what a fool, it knew from the start
That one-day the seeds within would be forced to part
And then the sorrow would crash into the lover's core

Impregnating the heart with boundless lies
Hoping that not all the fallacies shall die
So another can fly o'er boundless grains
Whilst venturing beyond the skyline of past pains
And silently watching the trickle of love's fountain

Oh what a fool is he who believes in its power
All these heartless blackbirds shan't cower
But in its stead, fly o'er two
Flying, flying, flying, allowing these pains to begin anew
With a whisper and a crash, and a bloodied hand

Crossing o'er boundaries of the past
Screaming deftly for no love shall last
As the eternal finale opens his gaze
The battlefield of my life he doth raze
Doth thou continue to feed upon my soul

Light of all lights, exit my sight
And burn darkest star, throughout the night
My shepherd, lead I, your humbled sheep
And continue your punishment whilst I weep
Shatter this boundary of joy you created

Empty, as I lie, upon this burning field
Waiting forever for the nothing that you shall yield
Lie to me, thou art as blackened of heart
A wolf in sheep's clothing, shan't you part
And spread your broken wings toward the sky

Leave me be, demon of the sun
For now I know, thou art not the one.
This trust embedded within my bosom
Was taken when love demanded its freedom
And now forevermore, it is locked in the bowels of my mind

Declare thee, an end to this love
Release me, o'er the darkness above
Carry me, below the lights of the sky
Bury me into the deep so I can die
Forgive me, for my life hath already ended.

Under the stark rebirth of the spring
Then see these damned children sing
If thou art a heavenly rose, then cut me from your stem of sorrow
Perhaps then I shan't survive to see the morrow
Oh broken light, return to your hollow

Perhaps then you can grow and mature as a seed
And no longer upon my happiness can you feed
Patriot saint of love--
Now I know these wings of yours were cut from a dove
And stolen away the same way you stole my heart

And now that heart, it is finally dead
As is my faith within my head
Cheers to your endless lies
Praise thee, for this past loves die
And soon I too shall be sent into the sky with your memory

You blackened light. You blackened heart.
Praise thee, you have ripped my heart apart.
