The Lone Wolf

Moonlight shines through the dark night, daylight is hours away.

In the darkness a lone wolf howls. Calling for for the pack she once had

Pain ripples through the white wolf as only silence follows her howl.

What has happened to her beloved pack mates?

There was the smell of blood in the air.

Her heart raced, her ears pointed to the sky.

There was still no reply.

Then she caught the scent, then scent of man.

She now knew what had happened to those she loved.

Men had claimed their lives, with those weapons they call guns.

She was alone, and would forever morn her lost pack.

She had lost her dearly loved mate.

He would never again howl at her side.

Her head raised to the sky as she sang her sorrow to the lone moon.
