Shark

An old shark, older then the night
Lived in a very old place
He wasn’t kind and sweet and not at all pretty
He lived in a cold space

There was a curious girl that liked to wander
She was often ought to ponder
A group of villagers went to explore a cave
Said a villager, “Cave’s over yonder.”

The girl that was ought to wonder and ponder
Went along with the village people
The girl ran off to find something pretty
The villagers went to get a steeple

She stumbled upon the shark
“What is this thing?” Implored she
He took offense to that statement
“Come over here and get some tea,” said he

She walked over to his pool
He smiled a grim smile
She took one step too many
He thought her flavor worthwhile

An old shark, older then the night
Lived in a very old place
He wasn’t kind and sweet and not at all pretty
He lived in a cold space

The villagers fraught with dismay and worry
Couldn’t find that girl
They went back to the caves
Her bones shining like pearls

As the story goes they wouldn’t return
From that cold space
It is believed the shark got them
But it makes for an interesting case

An old shark, older then the night
Lived in a very old place
He wasn’t kind and sweet and not at all pretty
He lived in a cold space

Another poem written in creative writing class. We wrote a ballad off the head line/title of a Weakly World News story.
