We Won't Stop Believing

One day,
The moon won't revisit
And the stars will follow suit;
Keepsake lies
Like empty shells,
Over and over again,
We won't stop believing.
Newly darkened days
And further darkened nights
Spent living the lives
With expiration dates, too far gone
To retrieve.
Fresh existence will seek simple
Recognition,
Whilst day-to-day
Lacks the required verve.
Exotic circumstances entail what they entail;
Primitive wishes and requests revived.
Humanly fantasies will flee our barren place,
Yet we won't stop believing
And you awake each morning,
Hoping to see that this is but a dream,
Only to find that
It is not.
