These Are My Friends
They're screaming my name
a siren's call orchestrated for me alone
These friends of mine are beckoning
their brightly colored faces
gleam in my direction
enticing me to accompany them
There are times when I want
to fall back in this unearthly desire
to taste them, dance them with my teeth
To feel my tongue grown into
a brilliant numbing sensation
and relax in a blurry world
Because a sharp reality is far too dangerous
far too painful. Everything is too clear
and there is no where to hide
But today I hesitated
and my friends are sealed
tight in their jar
Where for now they will stay
away from my greedy little hands
a siren's call orchestrated for me alone
These friends of mine are beckoning
their brightly colored faces
gleam in my direction
enticing me to accompany them
There are times when I want
to fall back in this unearthly desire
to taste them, dance them with my teeth
To feel my tongue grown into
a brilliant numbing sensation
and relax in a blurry world
Because a sharp reality is far too dangerous
far too painful. Everything is too clear
and there is no where to hide
But today I hesitated
and my friends are sealed
tight in their jar
Where for now they will stay
away from my greedy little hands
