Misanthropic Thoughts I

We live in a world of contradiction,
Bound by those who wish to bathe in the blood
Of our sorrow, our misfortune, and death.
If I had been a light in younger days,
Before my soul was tainted by their hate,
I would give all I had to show much more;
More smiles, more love, more true happiness,
But I fear that from my foolish actions,
I'll never know what true happiness is.
My heart screams out but my mind restrains me.
Strength, I have in abundance, my dear,
But emotion is my one, greatest fear.
So many times I have been ripped apart
And left to dwell in a broken heart,
Alone to grow without a single friend.
My only sustenance was this old pen
That let the words from my dark, broken heart
Flow to the world, and you, to see as art.
