sonnet #1
Sonnet #1
Someone told me “to help is a kind heart”
One must open their heart and learn to care,
The problem is I don’t know where to start
How can I help when I’m nowhere near there?
But this girl, her image won’t leave my mind
A flower burnt down; beaten and broken
Forgotten child who left behind
She begs for help though she has not spoken.
The picture begs like a dog for a treat
I’m at a loss yet help I hear it ask
Feeling so useless makes me so offbeat
Holding back my tears is not an easy task.
Then as suddenly as a collision,
An answer is seen; one that was hidden.
