sonnet #2

Watch the minute hand be rewound, tick tock
As the clock counts down; sand through as hourglass
Just like that time's slipping away, I block
My heart yet it shows like a rose in grass.

I can feel my chance; it's slipping away
Time passes, never thought I'd be left behind
And I know I need to tell her today
I've got to let her know what's on my mind!

But thoughts of rejection keep stopping me
Like a stone block that keeps getting in the way
I'm ready to give her my heart and it's key
Though nerve-racking thoughts can't be kept at bay

My dear, What if tomorrow is too late?
Guess we just have to leave this up to fate.
