The Death Of Romance

O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo?
People...
We don't talk like that anymore
Not in this crazy world
Driven by conquest, and the fear of it
A world no longer touched
By the purity of true love
I ask of you, now
What is the difference,
Between a romantic, and an emo kid?
An emo hides behind their hair, for safety
Where a romantic is crucified, on a public square
For blind love is no longer accepted
In a place such as this
There are too many of us who will ignore it
And more still who will openly declare war on it
Until there is no place left for it to hide
Unless it is blessed with infallible luck
It's a tragic misconception, these days
For there are so many out there, wishing there were such a thing
As a "prince charming", or Disney princess
The thing is, we're corrupted by those around us
Driven away by rejection, and killed by hate or jealousy
And changed forever, through fear and a newfound self reliance
Because, the truth of it is...
We're extinct
There's only normal people now
Walking these streets
