Because I Know You

If I didn’t know you,
I’m not sure who I’d be,
I would never have found,
A way to be free.
If I didn’t know you,
I’d lose my own way,
I’d be chained to the ground,
With my voice stripped away.
If I didn’t know you,
This beauty I see,
This life, and this earth,
Would be lost upon me.
If I didn’t know you,
I could have been me,
Just like you,
I’d stop trying to be.
If I didn’t know you,
I wouldn’t know tears,
I’d have own world,
Devoid of all fears.
But if I didn’t know you,
My colors would fade,
To just black and grey,
Of the dullest shade.
Now I look at your back,
As you find your own way,
And because I know you,
I’ll find mine someday.
