Underneath Your Touch

Where you touch my skin,
Dark marks form.
Bruises in varying shapes and colours.
Skin peels away under your touch,
Recoils as though in fear.

Light seeps through the wounds,
Like daybreak in July.
Your true intentions are illuminated;
I pull away.

Grab my wrist,
The skin burns and decays rapidly,
Causing a ripple effect,
Like a stone dropped into a lake.

Hold me close,
Your embrace is almost comforting.
The pain ebbs away,
Yet the damage remains.

Release me,
You leave me raw.
Bare and unprotected.
Underneath your touch
I fall away.
