Fool

There was something in his eyes,
Something more to see
Something glittering, dark and bright,
when I found his eyes on me.

His words were soft and ominous,
Leaving shutters in their wake.
He promised many things to me,
but not my soul to take.

His hold was sweet and frightening,
As his grip was smothering tight.
He kept me sealed against his chest,
and out of the warm sunlight.

His insidious plans were invisible,
I thought he had proven true,
But he broke my mind and stole my soul,
So I must give this demon his due.
