Innocence.

Remember when everything was pure?
Life through child's eyes.
When fate seemed so sure?
Believing you'd never meet your demise.
The strawberry laces you used to eat,
Now rest upon my flesh.
Their taste turned sour from sweet,
Instead of love you give a thresh.
The wonder of the world,
Replaced with fear.
Your timeline unfurled.
You realise death is near.
Looking at a life wasted,
Many shattered dreams.
An existence, lambasted,
As the tears in your eyes, they gleam.
Many promises broken,
And hearts paired with them.
So much hurt unspoken,
As others, you condemn.
Your innocence has been taken,
Your love and hope destroyed.
An existence now forsaken,
Knives and guns replace your toys.
Your childhood spirit raped,
Your body full of scars.
When you thought you escaped,
You learned pain is much like tar.
So stare at your reflection,
As you hold the knife against your wrist.
You realise you love your infection,
An innocence never really missed.
