Breath

The sand between my toes,
The breeze flowing through my hair,
The smile displayed upon my lips.

The clouds leisurely pass by over head,
The sun shines brightly,
The leaves rustle softly.

Who would have thought I could take a breath?
Who would have thought it could be done without stress?
Who would have thought?

Once entrapped in a box,
A vessel full of negative energy.
Only there to cause misfortune and neglect.

Broken free I have realized what it's like.
What it's like to smile and mean it.
What it's like to love and feel it.

With my heart healing,
With my eyes wondering,
My mind chasing.

So I breathe, I take in every scent of this life.
I breathe in the late afternoon showers, the early morning mist.
I breathe in all the small things, learning, savoring it.

This may not be the best poem I've ever written; but it's the way I felt that came across paper. I'm having to look all over where I posted poems, and written and stashed them. I've posted many on eliteskills.
