Time

Once upon a time,
I dreamed of a castle by the ocean,
a happy family would eat at the table
laugh by the windows
Dance in the rain.

During that time,
We would hang out by the fire,
telling stories that were meant to scare and intrigue us.
We would smile as if nothing could break us.
We would hold onto each other as if nothing could tear us apart.

But I woke up,
I look around and frown as I think about my once blissful dream.
I hold the covers tight,
No laughs are heard.
It's just me and me alone during this time.

The ocean by the castle has ran dry,
the food upon the table has rotted.
The windows have shattered,
and the rain has burnt holes in my soul.

Time, maybe it hasn't ran out yet.
I could learn to manage it better,
I can fix what I had once broken.
Softly smiling, I pull back the curtains.

Once upon a morning,
In a house by the trees,
A girl laughs with her new family.
They dance around each other,
They smile with their eyes.
This was the greatest wonderful time.

Personally one of my favorite poems I've ever wrote.
