Choosing

Shadows will wander, but always follow, and only wish to be free,
Rivers may be set on a path, but do not wish it,
The wind may travel as it pleases, but may only wish to be told where to go,
Yet fire may burn shortly, sweetly, brightly, and unmoving, and is happy.
