A Bitter Taste

Pulled from a sweet hesitance,
racing against time.
Dipped in a golden thread of time.
"Tell me, did you ever love me?"
"No" said the man, "No love bore thee.
For your years have been cruel, harsh and wasted,
time was a flavor, so bitterly tasted."
Her heart has grown cold, still and blackened.
For it was once pretty, but time has passed in it.
Fraught with the gift to tear others down,
a salty sea of tears did thy fair lady drown.
"Now, tell me, good sir,
where does your heart lie?"
For he did not answer,
he belonged to the sky.
