No Escape

A hole in the drywall,
Glass on the floor.
They are here to take our lives,
Now there are bullets through my door.
Gas bombs and smoke grenades choke.
Most are already dead.
I am only a teenager trying to survive,
And they want a bullet in my head.
“Run for the hills and stay in the trees!” A man says.
I run with him.
I follow his every move until we reach,
Sunlight is very dim.
We reach the green and few come along.
This insane war must stop. This insane man.
We are nothing but the innocent looking for a better place.
We can’t keep this up.
Change our names and our face.
Blues eyes and blonde hair.
He kills with disgrace.
After us they will go for the blacks,
Asian, Brazilian we are all targets.
He holds the power, the reason why we suffer.
Thick in the forest we are almost there.
A soldier stops us and our lives,
He does not spare.
