Typewriter memories

click clack typewriter keys
ping slide click type
write what you cant say
no one to tell you it's wrong

you can be what you want here
not what they want
silence except for the clack of the keys
count backwards from 13

(you thought you were unlucky well you were right)

stained black fingertips
Ink tinted tears
a typewriter ribbon tied around your throat
falling in cacades of tiny shreads

words you dont remember ever hiding inside
pouring onto the page in faded black type
like photos of places that only you know
worn thin and nearly forgotten with time

A quiet place
where no nightmare roams
a warm safe place
to call a home

a voice that you know sings a song from the trees
longing for somthing you've never had
it lulls you to sleep on a bed made of leaves
beautiful,distant,nastolgic and sad

an inky river of forgotten dreams
lost ambitions
now dead
now gone

when did they slip away
silent as you in the night?

you havent seen the sun in weeks now
dont deny it
those petals by the bed are dried and fading
fading like you

where did you go?

Pick roses under moonlight
(out of garden that weren't yours)
wear what you feel like
(even if that happened to be nothing at all)

Into trouble all the time
but I miss that too cuz
you could always make me laugh
now you push me away

I miss you
come back
get us into trouble
(I promise not to care)

I remember how
you used to be such an "activist"
fighting for freedom
world peace
animal rights

save the planet

save the children

save the frogs from biology teachers

save the freaking drowning polar bears
(you didn't listen when I told you they swim)

"save myself"
was never on that list
I tried to save you once
remember?

we did all those crazy things
damn,remember when...?
you were so...
spontaneous

no one could hold you back
or pin you down
not even me
you were such a wild thing

except the nights you lay in my arms
vulnerable,still
did you know I stayed awake
to watch you sleep?

where did the photograph you go?
the Change The World and Live It Out you?
locked inside that typewriter?
(come home please come home)

go to the places that only you know
light a candle in every corner that's dark
run through fields of electric blue grass
skate graffitied rails of a dead skatepark

catch every fleeting moment
make it special,yours
hold a rainbow in your hand
let the dawn touch your fingertips

let the best things come back
the things you used to love
rain,music,thunderstorms
(Me,you loved me once too)

take out the memories
type the pain away
lock it in a box
or tear it into pieces

I'ts alright to cry
you know I always told you
It's alright to cry

I know they hurt you
but you know I wont

just hold my hand and dont look down
It's okay to be scared
close your eyes I'm here love
you know I wont let you fall

type the photos in click-clacks of black ink
twisting worlds from beneath your fingertips
as the sun sets over your typewriter
remember(remember me)

so you can forget
