Life Goes On

I listened to the car hum beneath my feet,
Taking us to the one we intended to meet.
All it takes is one quick glance
There's no such thing as second chance.
A child chased a ball out into the street,
We spun past him, an amazing feat.
Out of control our car kept spinning, seven times, eight.
The truck we noticed far too late.
In the horrible chaos of sight and sound,
I longed to stand upon the ground.
The world shimmered, its colours too bright
As our father walked towards the light.
We leaned over, filled with dread;
What once was living now lies dead
We flinched back - from behind he had seemed fine
From his corpse we pulled a lifeline.
Nothing's right, it's all gone wrong.
How to live now that he's gone?
I scream and scream and don't stop screaming

Simple really, life goes on.
