My Own Witness

She sits in shame
With bags under her eyes
As her head is filled with everyones lies.
She hides it away in the shadows for as long as she can
But she can't do it forever
But she's brave enough to try
When only I can hear her cries.

She's putting herself down
She's giving up hope
Everyone drags her under
For her confidence has been ripped in half
Now it's up to me to bring it all back.
And only I can save her.

I know she can't forgive and she'll never forget
Her heart full of useless regrets.
I give her my advice
But she'll never listen to me
Through her eyes I'm the enemy.

Now I'm forced to watch her collapse to the ground
Her steady breathing going down
As she cries her eyes out I stand there like a witness
Only to find that I'm staring at one person;
Myself.
