EYES

Her eyes are tired and gone,

they haven’t closed in so long.

Reaching out for love.

Reaching out for existence.

So dry that they’re sore,

tears wouldn’t fall anymore.

They ran down.

They ran out.

Their colors are dull and faded,

their sparkle strangled and dead.

Stars that were drowned.

Stars that were stolen.

Ghosts that stare past the world,

her eyes are open and empty and unfurled.

They gave it their all.

They gave up.

Her eyes were lost and wondering.

Now, lost but not wandering.
