Untouched Space

The books set up on the shelves in a specific order
The chair was pushed in neatly at the desk
The only thing on the coffee table was a quarter
Nothing was on the floor, there was no mess

Dust settled on all of the surfaces
The air was tainted with loneliness
Memories swarmed circles with forgotten kisses
Everything was left to sit in its bitterness

When things go wrong, people just try to forget
These people had moved on from their life here
It's in this very room where they will never sit
Things had changed, and there wasn't a single tear
Life was gone inside this untouched space
