Evening

EVENING
-
A POEM

A slow painless feeling
it seemed harmless
and it was
but it's not only seasons that change

And as we ran through the fields
and the trees together
in an orange and yellow haze
we fell apart

And then some words she said
reminded me of a song I was singing
just the other day
and I realized I was worse without you
so much worse

eyes fade to the darkest blues
and all of our friends go missing
and then comes the second guessing,
who are we, and why are we here?

Green and yellow choke out in the end
and all love is lost
but we never had love
