Ode to the Toronto Maple Leafs

Since the start of the league in 1917,

you have been the True North Strong and Free.

You’ve been the center of our nation, we’re proud to call you our own.

Wherever we are rocking the blue and white, we are always at home.

As a team we’ve been targeted, appreciated, and baffled,

and we will forever have mixed feelings toward waffles.

Although we aren’t always rewarded for our effort, our future looks bright.

We’ve all become loyal to King MacArthur and his knights.

We’ve sold out every game for a long, long while,

and you couldn’t imagine our elation when Coach Wilson finally smiles.

As a kingdom we’re addicted to Schennonyms and Twitter,

and we’re planning our parade because we’re doing so much better.

It’s time for Lord Stanley to come to Canada, so send a tweet to Lupul and TyBo

because nobody loves their team like we do in Toronto.

Spirit is everything, and every nation is Leafs Nation…

OMGRABOVSKI this needs an explanation.

This is Captain Phaneuf and the team he will carry,

although we do miss Kabby, Versteeg, and his magical fairy.

From Reimer’s first shutout, to “Go Leafs Go!” in Ottawa,

you know you’re a Beleafer if it you’re psyched to be part of this:

an Original Six team, the best rivalry in the league,

an awesome PK to the best fanbase the world has ever seen.
