I Live For My Love

I live for my love.
Heart that steadfastly pounds
For a world, time and place
Where that love can abound.
For the feeling of doing what hasn’t been done,
Of tears that are falling and flying at once.
For the touch of an angel,
The thrill of the chase,
For a gift I accuse of low value at face,
In the dark of a night
Passions starting to stir
In the silence of light
Which does little for her.
Speak now soul, with your vision,
All that eyes fail to see –
So this sense, this rare friendship
Isn’t wasted on me.
Tear away as you long,
Cut your losses in short.
For the quick pulse of fear
Is a final resort.

I live for my love,
Which has brought me to life
For the fire that burns there
That taught me to fight…
For the fear of it’s end
Which I doubt I’d survive.
I live for my love
For the beauty at point,
For the piercing of flesh
And extension of joint.
The love I now feel
Trancends time, truth and space.
Selfish critic, be silenced,
Or I’ll rust in your wake.

I live for my love,
Through the years I would wait.
I live for my love,
And cast shame to my hate.
I live for my love, and may die for it too.
I may well play the martyr
Ensuring some dream came true.
