Caught in the Riptide

I deleted this by accident...here it is again. A couple of changes were made.

Stumble, trip and fall once more,
Head over heels for
Another girl I adore.

Let the flood flow,
Let the water bend,
In and out
Out and in
Wrap around my heart again.

Crystal-clear intensity
Rushes through my mind.
Whirling down deeper and deeper –
I disappear into my own riptide.

Sinking below the surface,
Drowning in disgust.
Pounds of pressure push me down,
On top of shame in love and lust.

Sand and rocks hit me like bullets,
While the rapids rip up the river base.
The water with a dissolving grin,
Decides to put me in my place.

Dazed in a muddy fog,
Breathing in a wave of pain.
A repeating struggle as I swim
Knowing I have nothing to gain.

And while the waves collapse in and upon themselves,
The air escapes from my chest.
Inhaling the burning liquid,
I fall victim again to admiration and star-crossed love at its best.
