Forest Fright

blood drips down sharp daggers of deadly ice

i’m not here anymore
nothing’s clear anymore
there’s no help to survive the pain anymore

i’m confused
it’s all jumbled
brain’s bruised
i draw blanks

dead stares as i walk
no feeling as i talk
nothing’s there

it’s an empty hole, a blank page,
erased from a blackboard
only fueled with hate

fuel on empty
tank’s running out
engine’s sputtering nonsense
no gas stations around

breaking down in madness
nowhere to go
people drive right pass you
some fly while others slow

you’re stuck in a rut
in a ditch on the side
of a road going nowhere
run for the forests to hide

the branches rip and tear
they draw the blood out
briers and thorns don’t care
as you scream and shout

twisted branches and folk
don’t listen to your pleas
stab and prod you wounded soul
help drive you towards insanity

Wearing out and wearing thin
you’re tired but won’t give in.
crawling forward, scraping skin.
keep on falling towards the end.

Slower and slower your progress is,
seconds strike the heart so hard
grabbing onto it you stand
Upon a broken, jagged shard.

It cuts your feet, the hands, the throat
the pulse fades and the body stills.
Breathing shallows to faint whispers
and the transformation of the dead
complete as the body chills.
