The Beast

The Beast

It's not a monster under your bed

Not an animal in the dark recesses of a forest

No, it’s worse

His greatest fear

It’s himself

Part of him, he locks away in a cage

It snarling, screaming, shaking the bars

Relentless, unstoppable

Just waiting for him to give in, to let it out

To let it free

Last time he did, death followed in its shadow

They tried to treat it, but the beast cannot be stopped

All he can do is leaved it locked in its cage as it cackles, mocking him

Daring to come close, to unlock the door to the cage

To unleash the beast
