I wish I lived in the sky

i. hidden

From the night-time’s secrets
stashed in the deepest parts of
our pockets,

we hide from the shadows
of our minds.

ii. from

Sorrow once crawled into
the depths of a sea you could
call a soul,

and it broke me with the
evening’s tears.

iii. you

Nature grew from the grasses
until you could see no more
but endlessness –

we could get lost in the
silence of nature.

iv. I will

Misty tears hung on our eye-
lashes as storm clouds circled
our hearts and

showed us how monotonous
life could be.

v. break

Bark and rust destroyed our
voices until we were nothing but
silences

and it dug in as deep as a tree’s
roots in the soil.

vi. my

Orchids bloomed in our eyes
when our lips once savoured
grape candy,

the fake kind that doesn’t
compare to us.

vii. skin

Fury rubbed until we were raw,
like those days when we came home
sunburnt and sore –

but it never stopped us lying until
we bled.

viii. until

Once upon a time, our whole world
was of the sunset on the horizon
and how long

our blushes last, because blushing
makes us smile.

ix. I

Sometimes we’d stay up together
for the dawn’s light, bright, fiery;
blending with the

horizon that meets at our
doorway.

x. scream

In contentment, we smell of summer
and our eyes are dulled by the sun.
How we missed the smell of musty

old books, stained with age, ready to
read in winter.

xi. help

One day, we’ll be pure, with age-coloured
hair. We’ll find love in the memories
of our snow angels,

rubbed into the wintry landscape to
leave our mark.
