Found Poem - Dracula

He didn't want to wring my confidence from me
Because if a woman's heart is free, a man might have hope.
I only told him that much.
I could see all the same that he was still nervous.
I leant over and kissed him,
blushing very much.
Oh why must a man like that be unhappy?
I knew the only cure for this sort of thing was work
to wish to keep him at the point of his madness,
when self is the fixed point,
full of beautiful and romantic bits.
I knew what he was going to do,
through these frowning walls and dark window openings
Yes, there is someone that I love, though he has not told me yet that he loves me,
my dear...Won't you give me one kiss?
There is a method in his madness
she doesn't know her mind a bit.
I know there is sunrise,
if only I knew what to do.
I wonder what he would say if he saw her now.
I couldn't tell.
She looks so sweet when she sleeps,
a sudden shock would be almost sure to kill her.
I trust her,
the roses seem coming back already
I couldn't understand it, but she is not.
I was afraid of something,
I don't know.
I didn't pretend to be watching him,
those ideas of him might work
I hope I shall not again,
this diary has quieted me.
