Power Of Poetry

I was asked one day,
“What does poetry do?”
Why would anyone write that way?
Well, it inspires me and you.
Words are power!
Words are passion!
Words can make one cower!
Words show style, even fashion!
There’s one in all,
Waiting to be free.
Now you must answer the call.
Release the poet in you and me.
A spectrum of emotions,
A million words to choose,
Writing about love or commotion.
We all have a story, different views.
Poetry can make a heart soar,
Poetry can make a tear fall.
It can make one love, adore.
It can make one loll.
So, what do poems do?
What is the point of such writing?
It can make a new you.
It can make your life exciting.
It can do nearly anything,
It can do almost everything.
Powerful as a hot spring!
Beautiful as a wedding ring!
Magical as a wand!
Sharp as a knife!
