A different world in darkness

DARKNESS

Cool comforting darkness enveloping me in a sweet painful blanket.
Grass cool and anew
Walking through the night my only light the light of the graceful moon
Around me are my fellow unwanted brethren
As all sleep we awaken and walk the earth far from the judging
Our pained souls rest
We are the shadows
The ones who are feared
So I ask my question…why?
Why us why not the people who ridicule
The answer
We are the cracked.., the broken
Throbbing our lives in and out through time
Our tears no longer having to be shed
No masks to cover our pain
Let it flow free as you walk the blood sprinkled earth
Others the ones beginning to crack
Wake up sitting in bed
They flee to open the window
The pressure oozes out as
As the cool crisp air severs its grip
Freeing them of the rejection
Running up and down the hills never getting far enough away
Until the darkness
The darkness lifts them high into the womb
Secure but on the edge of dread
Life so hauntingly simple
Until
The smooth reds and gold begin to fill the sky
Scattering back to our lives of death
To walk the street seeing eyes averting
Pending silence awaiting the dark
Until then remember one thing

Only the cracked shall let in the light
