Darkness

The darkness holds so much
The fear that has stung me since I was a child
I always learned to put that behind me,
But I'm not home,
I don't feel safe here,
This darkness isn't good,
That feeling washes over me,
I'm being watched
Something in the darkness is watching me
Waiting for the right moment to strike at me
Waiting for my guard to go down.
It won't
I'm always on high alert
Even when I feel safe.
Darkness,
Such a weird fear.
Even now,
That sting of fear still lingers,
I'm fine with the dark
Darkness on the other hand, the feeling of being watched
That eerie feeling of someone, something is coming after you.
To spill your blood,
Make you run and scream.
Darkness isn't a friend, but just the dark is.
