Roar

Today I heard the lion's roar;
I felt it creep into my feet,
It climbed up up up past my socks,
prickling my kneecaps with scraping teeth.

It wound around my waist awhile,
then fingers, arms, and elbows too,
I felt it glide right past my neck,
it's destination not so far-fetched.

It lingered there for quite some time,
Preparing to pounce and secure what's mine,
And rushing forth I heard the growl,
As into my ear the sound did prowl.

It grew and bounded through my head,
Enveloping my mind with feelings of dread,
The neverending had to end,
So I walked right out on to the next.

Wherein I saw the monkeys play,
Swinging back and forth throughout the day,
But i felt a creeping in my feet,
So I turned around, racing to the street.
