Melodic Emotion

You see these fingers, yes these things,
Have you ever twisted them around metal strings,
And strummed until it hurt?

Pouring pain, into each note played,
Until your soul unraveled and soon frayed,
And you have scrubbed clean all the dirt.

Have you sang tune, lost in desire,
Screamed until your lungs gave out, caught on fire,
And your heart seemed to invert?

Have you ever loved and lost,
Lay awake, turned and tossed,
Until all hope was desert?

I have played my song to ghosts.
Walked with the weary hosts.
Dreamed with the simple, and curt.

Have you ever, will you ever, let the music take away the hurt?
