A World Of Madness

I've seen this massive world in all its truth,
A tainted place of avarice and sin.
Where none are spared, not innocence nor youth,
Where fearsome wrath and envy burn within.

Too little beams of light shine from the ground,
To pierce the clouds of darkness in the sky,
Such people either live life, honor-bound,
Or grow darker, and watch their purity die.

Not even reason is safe in the end,
As envy clouds the purest peace of mind,
And jealous anger breaks the bonds of friends,
Soon fights begin, with anger paid in kind.

Thus from this world of madness, I resign,
To live in one of peace, of my design.
