A Life I Never Wanted

Stripped of my power, will, and peace of mind,
With iron shackles binding trembling hands,
A humble shadow forced upon mankind,
Trapped in his life to meet absurd demands.

I tread along the path among the stars,
One that I never even want to take,
I gaze back at the life I led so far,
Acknowledging all I'm forced to forsake.

All I desire is a simple life,
Clinging to truth and also free of lies,
Devoid of chaos, free from pointless strife,
Instead they push me forth to my demise.

I laugh and smile within insanity,
While searching for my sweet obscurity.
