Ambitions

Playground eyes, no one cared for
Naïve and inexperienced they present me to be
To see through my eyes is unexplainable
Because I cannot color what I see

In the morning when it was black and white
Newspaper clippings and tabloid disasters
It couldn’t compare to my afternoon
How realization couldn’t hit me faster

Clouded by doubts and no support
What was one to do in a world with no color?
Monochromatic scenes staring back at me
Closing in, couldn’t take the smother

I take out my pencil and draw the massacre
But what I saw on paper was not the grotesque
No, it was surreal like from another world
Couldn’t believe what it was I possessed

Little by little, my world bled with color
As dusk hit my now splattered walls
I now anticipate my evening with smeared hands
Awaiting when fate will release the call
