Your Heart

Deep, deep inside of your heart,
There is a pain,
That shall never dissipate.
You've learned to hide the pain,
Hide the shame that runs through your veins.

You want it all to go away.
But you know it never will,
The knife glistens in the light.
Contemplation of running the beautiful steel,
Across your wrist.
Watching the crimson water drip to the floor.

The euphoria of the pain slowly residing,
Farther and farther to the back of your mind.
A pause,
You slowly come to your senses.

You made a promise,
You'll never hurt yourself again.
You told him you'll stop,
As long as he always cares.
