Steel

Just because I'm made of steel
Doesn't mean that I don't feel.
It just means that you can't see
The tears and heartache that make me, me.
My skin is far too strong for you
To even try to pierce it through,
So until you really look me in the eye,
You'll never know how much I cry.
My iron arms hold you just a bit too far.
If I never let you close, we can't grow apart.
And though my concrete face doesn't change,
I'm still just like you: I'm so afraid.
Just because I'm made of steel
Doesn't mean the pain isn't real.
