Cuts and Burns

Her arms decorated with angry red gashes,
It's the razor that her pain uses when it lashes.
Sharp and sleek,
Cuts say the words she could never speak.

A true gentleman he is with his tie and vest,
But night time is what puts his strength to the test.
Melting like candle wax is his pale white flesh,
He'll lie alone, without screaming as his thoughts mesh.

She smiles at the sunrise because maybe her girl will call,
3 o'clock, no sign of her so her hope will fall.
She pushes through the day with a smile in on my face,
She feels like a dead heart, just wasting space.

His heart breaks again today,
As he wishes for a real smile to stay.
His best friend and big sister is a wreck,
To bring her true happiness he would even break his neck.

She knows the pain she causes everyone including this beautiful boy,
But she feels like she is just some useless toy.
Will she be strong enough to show him someday she will smile,
Or will this falseness become her new favorite style?

He struggles desperately hoping one day she will see,
Her cuts and his burns are not how it was meant to be.
But tonight the hope is so far away that he can't help it,
He just wasn't born strong enough for this shit.

Her thoughts wander for thousands of miles,
Her feet pass millions of tiles.
The blood drips to the floor,
All she wants is to cut even more.

Sadly he watches from the side,
Thinking she would stop if she tried.
What he doesn't understand is they are locked in a deadly game,
But this cat and mouse will never be tame.

She sees his pain written in his eyes,
Late at night it causes her to admit her own selfish lies.
But she just wants comfort from her own dreams,
When the love she shared with her was just as real as it seems.

He knows her weakness is that sweet sweet girl,
But sometimes their love made him want to hurl.
He reminds her, the love is not a lie,
And he knows at night she'll let out a silent cry.

The blade cuts deeper tonight than she is used to,
She could die, yes this she knew.
Suicide was in her thoughts more than in the past,
But she pushed forward hoping her love's silence wouldn't last.

He watched in terror and agony as his sister slipped farther away,
He just wanted to cry and fall apart, and beg her to stay.
Burning his flesh was what helped him cope,
It was stealing his last flicker of hope.

She rights letter after letter in the dark of her room,
Terrified of what will happen if left to her doom.
She wants to go to Jersey to get away from this hell,
She wants to hold her baby, before she is an empty shell.

This beautiful boy made her a special promise to make that dream come true,
She knew as well as he, that he would do anything he had to do.
So tonight as she falls apart at the seems, he reminds her of those crystal blue eyes,
He promises and reminds her that her baby isn't just some lie in disguise.
