Baby Brother

Sometimes I catch myself,
Staring at his cerulean eyes,
They seem vacant now,
Though once were full of life.

They used to shine for me,
Anywhere I would go,
Outside or up the stairs,
Was all he needed to know.

I made his world go 'round,
Because I was all he needed,
Always there for him,
Even if things got heated.

I always picked him up,
When he was far too weak,
Ignored the world around us,
Until we had to sleep.

I miss the treasured days,
When he couldn't get enough,
But now, it's sad to say,
He grew up.
