The Day that Changed History

And the sky turned crimson
And clouds caught fire.
Blood poured to the ground
In the sickening start of a nightmarish empire.

The rivers ran dry
And the deserts, how they flooded!
When day became night
And the ground became muddy.

And people screamed in terror
And all creatures fled their homes.
Bodies hit the pavement
Cement became their tombs.

The people left standing yelled to the heavens
Pleading for some kind of help.
And the skies opened up and the tears fell down
Burdened with secrets only the dead could tell.
