Massachusetts

Every night before I sleep
I partake in a joyous weep
Now that such a heavenly light
Has brought such an angel into my sight

In silent tears I lay in wait
For something in which you participate
A video, in which I see your face
Because you’re in a faraway place

One day, my love, you will be mine
As we indulge in a happiness divine
I steal your heart, it’s my other half
Which skips a beat with every laugh

You hear me everyday
Tell you how I feel
And I say what I think
And in my eyes its truth
You may not agree
But I will never change my mind
You’ll listen as I sing
And put up with me through hell
And pulled me out of it too
I told you about this poem
That I’m writing here today
And I swore I saw you blush
As you turned to hide your face
I just know you enough to say
That you’ll turn back and reply
“I love you, too”

Now, I can’t say that it will last
And be remembered as happiness of the past
But on this I can say is true
That one day I’ll marry you

I will sweep you off your feet
And dance in the rain on the street
I will watch from my roof, the moon
And pray that I’ll see you soon

I will talk the night away
The moons a listener today
Am I some lunatic?
Or am I growing lovesick?

A shy and lonely teenage boy
Who longs for a companion
So he won’t feel so alone
And have a chance to be himself
A chance to cry those tears of joy
For the first time in his life
With their cause as the witness
Who will testify with me
When they challenge how we feel
Then say that it will never last
And this will show them that it will
Even in the time that follows death
I can say that I love you eternal
More than the moon and the starry sky
And I know that you will say
“I love you, too”

You seem to give it all
To save me when I fall
And I feel that I give none
When all is said and done

You say that that’s alright
Because I write poems at night
You say it’s all the things so sweet
And my insecurity takes defeat

Please excuse me if I stare
It’s just that beauty cannot compare
And all I say to make you smile
So I can see it for a while

You say I can’t say much today
But if only you could see me now
Writing like there is no end
One day I know you’ll read this poem
When I visit you in Massachusetts
I will hide my smitten face
As you read the three first stanzas
And move on into sixteen lines more
You will be in awe with the rhyme
And find out where your heart is
And realize it’s the other half of mine
Start the search for your other half
And you’ll find it in your hand
In pieces taped together
You can read the words pouring out
“I love you, too”

Maybe it’ll make your day go by
In hopes to see this fragile guy
Give everything for one girl
Who he can call his entire world

Or his soul, because you’re that too
Just believe me because my words are true
Lighting up every corner of his life
Healing him from the darkness of strife

He will go home today
Get on skype and say
“I wrote today, baby girl, do you think that you could guess?”
And she will answer, asking about this poem and giggle like a mess

He will pray before he sleeps
To cross paths with you, to meet
He thinks about you through the day
Every time when his mind wanders
An image of you clouds his eyes
While he stares at a screenshot from the day before
To cause the tears of joy today
He will mumble your name to himself
Under his breath, and glance at the clock
Waiting eagerly for school to end again
Hurrying home so he can go up to his room
And open up the app on his iPod
Jump on his bed and click your name
And as you answer he knows you’ll say
“I love you, too”

I will head up there to Boston
And find this girl I am lost in
I will not live any other way
I will meet with her, I say, one day

One day you will open the door
Or get back home from the local store
And I will be there in my jeans
In my shirt and shoes, you’ll know what it means

I will get down on one knee
And say, “Will you marry me?”
I will tell you how much I love you
And I know you’ll say, “I love you, too”

Two words to start eternal love
Binding two halves of one heart into one
Creating one soul and one being
The imperfections of one another
To make the perfect happily ever after
A dream come true to end all dreams
Is a dream that I will strive to achieve
In order to have a better reality
Than the one that I can only dream of now
One that is attainable through an undying passion
That only grows stronger like a fiery sand
To encase this heart inside of glass
A protector so fragile to protect fragile integrity
Which integrity mends which cannot be mended
All it takes to mend the cracking glass of truth
Are the words of the altar “I do”

And then there’s “You may kiss the bride”
In moments before those words the growing tears of pride
As a promise of forever was presented in the vows
And it will last past what time itself allows

Somewhere death rips couples apart
But the rapier will do nothing to this heart
For in its glass container it will forever stay
In order for two halves to always have another day

And when death comes around reap
We will be protected in ever the deepest sleep
Because a love no strong hath no bounds
And a growing power that only astounds

A passionate love that burns glass into diamonds
Leaving that case around the hearts eternal
The ultimate shield and symbol of love
Being created from the stolen sands of time
Our love defies what is the course of nature
Stopping time for days for just the two of us
Allowing the extra sandy seconds to be sculpted
By such a fire to be made into a sparkling glass
That only turns into the indestructible stone
Otherwise known as a girl’s best friend
Will be the protector we always needed
A cage that cannot be destroyed
But lets our love come out and in
Through the barriers said to be impenetrable
Vows that will last forever longer
Start with the words “I do”

I am not the shepherd, I have no lying tongue
Because my promises are kept, just as I sung
And opal ring around your finger
Your birthstone will forever linger

A promise to hold you close and tight
One that carries on through night
One to kiss you in the rain
You hands in mine, eyes closed again

A promise to keep my lovely word
My promises will not become deterred
They shall hold against time’s test
Because you, my love, deserve the best

You have no need to question me
Because you know I can’t lie to you
You know I will have the opal ring
Because I ask about it all the time
Making sure to remember the stone
You know I will hold you tight
I can’t go a day without saying it
“You have no clue how much I wanna hold you,
If I were there I would just hold you tight and cuddle close,
And fall asleep with you nose to nose
I’d wake up and kiss you and call you beautiful”
I know one day that all of this will come true
You just have to let it happen
And our wedding will be outside in God’s tears
So after I can kiss my bride, hands at side, in the rain
I can savor the words even further “I do”

I will find my way to Monson
You say it’s not too far from Boston
One day you’ll see the clouds burst
And know I’ll be kissing you first

But drops will not exist, just flakes
When I make a promise there’s no mistakes
I will take you out there under the falling snow
To keep that promise from years ago

I, still, will promise to sing
I promise to keep on promising
They shall never break, for I’m nothing without you
And one day forever shall be sealed with “I love you too, I do”
