Keep Quiet

Darling, cut out your tongue,
What use is it to you?
You have held it too long,
Damn near bitten it through.

So abhorrent of violence,
Make better use of your fist,
And with it: lift a pen,
Note each word that they hissed.

And while at it: give up,
The fight’s already lost.
You allowed this to happen,
In turn, you’ll pay the cost.

Live for their amusement,
No one likes your cold sobriety.
And don’t hope for a heaven,
For they are repulsed by piety.

Most of all, keep quiet.
Don’t ever voice how you feel.
If happiness is an illusion,
Then you know this life is real.
